Custom Ear Molds: Swim Molds and Musician’s Ear Molds

Hearing protection plays a big role in preserving the integrity of one’s hearing health. HearCare Audiology in northeast Indiana offers personalized hearing protection and custom ear molds. Individual impressions create the perfect fit for in-ear monitors for musicians, earplugs for swimmers, ear protection for firearm use, and more.

 Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs)

Assistive listening devices, otherwise known as ALDs, help a user function better in daily situations. ALDs can be used solo or with hearing aids. Either way, they can make hearing easier by reducing the fatigue of listening. Common uses of assistive listening devices include making the television, telephone or home alarms more audible or boosting the power of personal hearing aids for better hearing in noisy scenarios.

Counseling and Orientation

HearCare Audiology Indiana knows the ins and outs of hearing loss. First time users of hearing aids may have a lot of questions and apprehensions, and we are committed to offer our services every step of the way.

Counseling and orientation plays a big role in terms of how consistently a wearer uses the device. Taking into account that hearing aids are considered to be an investment, it would be a shame for it to just stay in a drawer instead of being used to improve communication. Most hearing aid users, especially first-timers, need proper counseling and orientation to fully enjoy the benefits and features of a hearing aid.

Family members of hearing aid users are also encouraged to join the counseling and walk-through orientation as they also play an important role in the success of a person’s hearing aid journey.

Ear Wax Removal

Ear wax is a natural body secretion, but too much earwax can end up clogging your ears and interfere with normal hearing processes. People who wear hearing aids are vulnerable to ear wax blockage. We discourage dealing with ear wax removal by yourself because impacted ear wax may be pushed deeper into the canal, causing more troubles for you in the form of an ear infection, hearing loss or tinnitus. When dealing with stubborn ear wax, it would be best to leave it to the professionals who have the appropriate equipment to safely carry out ear wax removal procedures. HearCare Audiology offers professional ear wax removal services by our audiologist.

Hearing Aids

Ready to leave hearing loss behind and make conversations more meaningful? It’s time to choose the best hearing aids for you. Here at HearCare Audiology Indiana, we ensure that you make the right decision when it comes to your hearing aids. We provide hearing aid choices based on your audiogram result, lifestyle and budget. Audiologists at HearCare Audiology Indiana are committed to be your partner and guide you every step of the way – from choosing the style, color, features and accessories of your hearing aids. You can see the actual size of a certain hearing aid, feel how they fit, and even experience a field trial before making any decisions. HearCare Audiology offers custom ear molds from personal impressions for your hearing aids.

Hearing Aid Repairs

HearCare Audiology Indiana can accommodate minor repairs for hearing aids. Depending on our assessment of the device, we might have to relay it to the manufacturer for repair, most especially if there are serious damages.

HearCare Audiology Indiana offers in-office minor repairs, maintenance and cleanings with major brands of hearing aids. Regular cleaning and maintenance of the hearing aid is encouraged to keep the device functioning at its best.

Musician Earplugs and Monitors

Music adds color to life, and we have musicians to thank for that. However, being in the music industry can take its toll on the ears. Musicians are known to be exposed to high levels of sounds, making them vulnerable to permanent hearing damage. HearCare Audiology Indiana provides custom musician earplugs and monitors that protect the ears from potential damage while still allowing for a rich musical experience to transpire between the performer and audience.

Tinnitus Evaluation and Management

Tinnitus is a condition wherein an individual perceives a certain kind of audio (buzzing, ringing, clicking, roaring, hissing) when no actual external noise is existing. Tinnitus can affect one or both ears and may affect a person’s hearing performance.

A thorough evaluation is required to get to the bottom of tinnitus and to find out how much it affects a patient’s daily routine and functioning. Our audiologists at HearCare Audiology Indiana can assess and handle tinnitus, mapping out treatment options for better hearing.

How can you get rid of tinnitus?
Do you hear some buzzing/ringing/humming/hissing sounds but when you ask a friend or companion if they could hear it too they say no? You may have tinnitus, a condition where a person gets the perception of noise without an actual source. If you suspect that you have tinnitus, go to an audiologist and have yourself checked out.   Severe tinnitus may affect normal hearing or may even result in hearing loss. As of now, there’s no definite cure for tinnitus but there is help. Do your best to reduce your exposure to factors which may trigger tinnitus such as loud noises, stress and excessive alcohol or caffeine consumption, and talk to an audiologist about how hearing aids may be able to help you.

What are available hearing aid styles?
Hearing aids are available in various styles including in the canal (ITC), in the ear (ITE), behind the ear (BTE), receiver in canal (RIC), and open fit.  An audiologist can help you choose the best style for your individual hearing and lifestyle., and can also explain the pros and cons of each style.  If you want a discreet hearing aid, you might ask about an ITE. If you need a more powerful device? Maybe a BTE could be right for you. How can I tell if I have hearing loss?
In most cases, hearing loss happens gradually which means that some patients may not realize their hearing is compromised until it has advanced.. Early signs of hearing loss may include muffled speech and sounds, difficulty hearing high-pitched sounds (alarm, doorbell, birds), struggling tocatch up on conversations when in noisy places, and difficulty understanding phone conversations. These are just some of the symptoms of hearing loss. If you think that you or a family member may be exhibiting any of the symptoms above, schedule an appointment to HearCare Audiology to have your hearing checked by a professional.

find the best hearing aids for your hearing loss I came in for the first time here based on a recommendation from a friend. This was the best and most thorough hearing tests I have ever received. They explained everything very well. I really like these people and will certainly come back next week now that I find out I need to get a hearing aid. Great job guys.
